Olympics 2012: Vijay Kumar Wins Silver Medal for India in Pistol Shooting

Shooter Vijay Kumar won India’s second medal at the London Olympics Friday, winning silver in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol event.
These are the first Olympics for Kumar, a little-known 26-year-old army officer who hails from the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
Kumar finished second in the men's 25-meter rapid fire pistol after marksman Gagan Narang opened India's tally Monday by shooting a bronze in men's 10m air rifle competition at the Royal Artillery Barracks.
"This medal means such a lot to me. It has been my dream to win an Olympic medal. It is the highest peak you can achieve. I have a lot of medals on the wall but an Olympic one was missing until now," Kumar said the post event media interaction on Friday.
Kumar thus became the second Indian after double trap shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to win an individual Olympic silver medal. Rathore achieved his feat in 2004 Athens Games.
Great job Vijay Kumar. You make us proud in India. Hope we win more medals. Hope Mary Kom wins the boxing championship. She is from my state.
Best of luck India!
