Alabama Council on the Arts awards fellowship to Bharatanatyam Dancer Sudha Raghuram

Montgomery, AL -- Sudha Raghuram of Montgomery was recently awarded a fellowship in the dance category by The Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA).

ASCA awarded 15 fellowship grants totaling $115,000 to artists based on the merit of their work, career achievement, professional development and service to the state.
 
Raghuram performs traditional Indian dances and works with young dancers to teach the craft. She has been recognized statewide for her performances. She also received a fellowship in 2012.
 
Ms. Raghuram is also part of the Alabama Touring Artist Program roster for 2013-2014 to propagate Bharatanatyam in public schools across Alabama. She is a choreographer, performer and artistic director of Shivalaya School Of Dance in Montgomery, Alabama.
