Scientist Sues Roswell Park Cancer Center in Buffalo
Khushi L. Matta was invited to San Diego this coming spring to pick up a national award that he won for his work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The good news came just months following the bad: After 40 years at Roswell Park, where he brought in millions of dollars in grants and made a national name for himself, Matta's job was being eliminated, and there would be no place at the institute for the widely published scientist.
While many others eased out of the cancer institute over the years ended up with six-figure severence payments or were allowed to continue using Roswell Park laboratories and given emeritus status, Matta was told he would be stripped of all Roswell Park attachments at the end of the year.
Roswell Park leaders deny the award-winning scientist was forced out.
