St. Louis Family Hopes for a Kidney Donation

A 42-year-old man of Asian Indian descent in St. Louis is in need of an immediate kidney transplant. A previous transplant from his sibling performed a few years ago has failed and he now spends 11 hours a day undergoing dialysis

The prospective donor should be in good health and under the age of 50 with a BMI (Body Metabolic Index) under 35.  Blood group ‘O’ is preferable, but other blood types are acceptable.

A potential kidney donor will need to undergo several tests to ensure that they are a suitable donor.  The cost of these tests, the surgery (laparoscopic), any time that the donor may need to take away from work for the surgery (an overnight hospital stay at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago will be required to undergo the procedure), any travel related expenses are all covered by the recipient’s insurance policy or compensated through a donor advocate program.

Kidney donation is a life saver and it does not impact the donor’s health or their lifestyle.  The procedure is minimally invasive and routine and will be conducted at a world renowned facility.
TIME IS OF ESSENCE.  DONATING A KIDNEY CAN SAVE A LIFE.
