Dinyar Devitre Joins the National Board of Directors of Pratham USA
Dinyar S. Devitre, a former senior vice president and CFO of Altria Group, Inc, one of the world's largest tobacco companies, has joined the national board of directors of Pratham USA.
Devitre retired from the Company in March 2008. "Pratham is a superb organization doing ground breaking work in education for underprivileged children in India. I feel honored to serve on the Board of Pratham USA," said Mr. Devitre.
Mr. Devitre held a number of assignments with Philip Morris International. These included; Marketing Services Manager, Asia-Pacific (Melbourne 1974-1975), Managing Director, Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. (Bombay 1976-1979); and President, Philip Morris Asia (Hong Kong 1980-1990). Later Mr. Devitre was appointed Chairman and CEO, Philip Morris Japan (Tokyo 1992-1995) and contemporaneously served as Executive Vice President Philip Morris International.
From 1998 to 2001 Mr. Devitre worked for Citigroup where he was Executive Vice President and Group Head of Citibank’s Global Consumer Bank for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Devitre has served as a Director on several corporate boards including Western Union, Altria Group, Kraft and SABMiller. In addition, his nonprofit Board memberships include the Asia Society, Lincoln Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Born in Jamshedpur, India, Mr. Devitre earned a B.A. degree at St. Joseph’s College in Darjeeling, India, and an M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
