Hi HH,
I was able to get the passport by finally calling the consul general of Washington. Even though my passport was in Houston, I got a hold of the Consul General in Washington and he gave me a personal call and said he would talk to his counterpart in Houston. 3 days after receiving that phonecall, the passport was sent to us. It really took us by surprise but it worked. Google for consul general of Washington’s email address. I e-mailed them every single day until I got a response. Good luck.

Dear Readers,

We are facing similar problem, i am unable to get my moms passport renewed its been over 9 months

i believe we should all get together and protest, find a good lawyer and SUE them

we have so far spend over $5000.00 in making trips and find ways to get in touch with them we are making one call every day since last 9 months….imagine the frustrations….my mom is suffering depression due to this if something happens to her who should i blame

guys lets show some unity here get as many people unhappy with Indian embassy file a legal complaint and do something about it instead of just posting review this is not going to help no one reads this reviews besides people like you and me no one cares….

please email if you like to get together

My name is Aayushi Patel. I sent my application to renew my passport on April 26, 2011. And I didn’t hear anything about it so far, and I called like a thousand times, and no one answered me. So give me some kind of clue about when I’ll receive any matter of my passport or I will go and complain about the TX consulate to the GOVT. of India.

This is a combination of incompetence and indifference.  The Consular office in Houston is probably not unique with so much backlog and so many CUSTOMERS unhappy.  Despite exorbitant fees charged by the Indian Embassy for various services, the quality of service on a timely basis has much to be desired.

Many of our friends in Florida, NY, NJ, Georgia, California etc. have nothing but frustration and complaints against the Consular offices. More than likely, it was precisely because of this indifference, that the outsourcing was arranged earlier this year.  Many embassies would grant you a visitor’s visa on the internet ( immediately ) against a small payment ( e.g. Australian visa is $8).

Mr. Arora explained well that how they’ve expanded the phone lines and how we are not able to get through because so many people call between the allocated time period.  Let’s believe him for a moment.  What is Mr. Arora’s explanation for people who are emailing the dedicated (supposedly) email addresses?  are they getting so many emails that their servers are going down everyday and that’s why they are not able to return emails?

Who is he kidding?  if they are not able to meet the demands then why don’t they limit the number of applications they’d accept based on their capacity? Let’s say 1000 a month.  is that too much?  They can’t handle 50 a day (based on 20 working days a month)?  If they do that they’ll be able to provide feedback to those 1000 applicant too.  If they are not able to handle the current load why are they not limiting number of application?  Why are they collecting and cashing service fees from everyone when they are not even providing service for months.  Why not cash those money orders / cashier’s checks when service has been provided?

Mr Arora, it’s easy to make excuse.  You are the leader of that office, find solutions to your challenges or go back where you came from.

Dear sir/madam,
We have applied for OCI on January 18th 2011 And the online status shows “photo/signature Scanned on 18-Feb02011,”. But since then the status shows “Registration Status Under Process”. No update since 18-Feb02011. People are saying that the consulate is waiting to pass the summer holidays, so that everybody will apply for visa to go vacation during summer time! It will be highly appreciated if you let us know the status.

Hello, how are you. I am trying to get visa for me and my 2 year old son. I have submitted the application and the required documents in person at the Houston office, I am leaving on the 29th of May 2011. They are really giving me a hard time for the visa. I have renounced my Pakistani citizenship and I am a US Citizenship. All the documents are there, but still they are behaving very negatively. Even though, I had Pakistani citizenship before, they should not see people with the same kind of attitude. I am married with an Indian Origin and been to India before in 2008. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

Ms Thomas :
Sorry for what you are going thru at the consulate.  Next step is granting an OCI and that is done at Houston. Then the message is conveyed to Delhi for printing OCI card .
Cards are mailed from Delhi to Houston .  Did you check special email id and phone nos for OCI inquiry? Please write to me for further information - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Dear Sir / Madam,
I have a query, I acquired a land loan from LIC India, Primary Loan Holder - myself and secondary Loan Holder - my Mother. The Loan has been preclosed now.

Query:
For acquiring the land original property documents from LIC, since I’m in US, I cannot collect it in person. So I want to Nominate my mother for taking the documents, for which the LIC needs the Notary Signature and counter sign from Indian Embassy. What is the process for getting the same and what are all the documents that I need to produce for getting this done

Thanks
A C KANNAN

Kusumji : you did a great job in interviewing Honorable Mr.Sanjiv Arora.
I am a community person and I will try to reach you to talk to you on a personal level.

Consulate does have serious problem about
phones not answered , emails not replied , fax not replied , attitude sucks . Except some nice officers and staff , it is very bad.

Even now when it is slow , poor service and attitude still prevails.

Keep up the good work . We are proud of you .
