The wedding took place in our ancestral place in Punjab, India. It was a great wedding which was a grand celebration lasting about 6 days and nights with Ladies sangeet, Mehndi Raat, Sagan, Chunni, Cocktail night of Sangeet in which we had professional dancers and live singers as well as performances by all the family with solo dances, duets, and group dances.
Wedding day celebration started in the morning with Gharoli in which all the ladies especially all the sisters take a clay pot on the head and go to temple dancing with the band and drums and bring water from the temple with which the groom take a bath before dressing up for the wedding.
Then there was Batna in which all the ladies sing and dance and put haldi and Besan Batna on the groom’s face and on the whole body to give him a nice Facial and body massage to make his skin shiny and beautiful before he takes a bath. We performed all the traditional rituals and were busy all day with Sehra bandi in the evening before the Barat. The Barat procession was a great fun with groom riding a decorated horse with all the rest of the relatives dancing with musical band and drums and proceeding to bride’s place.
