Due to the demands of modern fast paced lifestyle many people have too much stress that may not be good for their health and well-being. Goal related stress can be healthy – it helps us stay motivated to improve our life. Distress, on the other hand, can cause disease or at the least it shows up as not at ease or “dis-ease” with our whole being. Distress can rob us of our energy. So many people these days are not at ease with other people or situations.
It is said that at the core of our being we have ingredients of perfect health. Sages and seers have told us that the core of our core is simply pure. So by connecting to our core we can create health in a holistic manner and experience our wholeness – Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social, Psychological, and Spiritual.
At the physical level, we need to get some form of exercise such as walking, running, Yoga, Pranayama, or playing sports. Walking in the fresh air and in the morning sun is said to be very healthy for us. So let us get going, get some momentum – walk a few thousand steps a day. Make it fun and get a pedometer, a tool that counts your steps.
Keeping mind healthy - Freeing your mind from excessive negative thoughts, perceptions, and feelings can be good for our mind. We can simply choose to live in the present instead of past or future most of the time.
No one has gone in the past and changed their past.
Learning from our past but not living in the past: Regretting to a degree may be ok but not at the expense of losing the opportunity to live fully in the present and take actions to create a better future. It doesn’t make sense to do this yet many human beings cannot get out of this cycle. Learn about some effective tools that can help you improve your mental health.
Life has ups and downs, staying even-keeled or steady in mind is the practice we can do for our lifetime. Mental health experts tell us that we must experience our emotions to a degree but not be caught up in them in a way that prevents us from moving forward with our life. We have so much potential to realize as human beings to accomplish our worthwhile goals, fulfill our vision, and live life with a purpose by utilizing our gifts to the fullest by serving others personally and professionally.
True happiness and peace cannot be bought in the marketplace. No one can put anger in us. It is our responsibility to cultivate happiness, contentment, and peace and transform our anger.
Starting Point for Improving your overall health and well-being:
– A plan or a roadmap … focus on the road you want to travel on, road of health and well-being. Think, speak, and do everything to stay on your road.
Before starting any exercise regiment consult a health professional.
You can improve your physical health by doing these simple two things:
1. Pay attention to keep your spine elongated by sitting and standing straight. This also helps to breathe deeper and fuller for better health. When you exhale try to pull in your stomach towards your spine and the let go so that your belly, lungs, etc. can take in more oxygen. Do some stretching exercise daily.
2. Work on your core muscles by doing crunches or sit ups - if you are able to do them … do a few to start with and gradually do more.
Reducing your stress level
Free up your mind by reducing stress and letting go several times a day – in seconds.
Try this simple technique – Tighten up your fists while imagining you are bottling up all of your stress in your hands…. squeeze, squeeze, squeeze! Now opening your hands while pointing the fingers towards the ground release all of the tension and exhale slowly. Repeat two to three times.
Making more time available for yourself by eliminating unnecessary activities or low dividend paying activities can do wonders. Planning, prioritizing, and braking down projects into baby steps can keep you focused and achieve more in less time.
Keep encouraging yourself and stay motivated – focus on doing the right baby steps – think of them as planting seeds of holistic health and well-being. Have the patience of a farmer – over time good seeds, with rain, sunshine, and fertilizer can bear the healthy fruit of holistic health.
Do some spiritual practice - connect to your core daily and stay healthier.
Think about your core, your essence, non-physical being, your source and source of all. Take a few minutes to sit down quietly and just be. Connect with your true self and start creating your health from your core.
Wishing you all the health!
